Online Audio Books

I went to school today to talk with my *FABULOUS* principal about classroom furniture and the Daily 5.  She's letting me get rid of ALL my student desks (trading them for group tables), and she's given me the go-ahead to implement the Daily 5!  YAY!!

I've used certain aspects of the Daily 5 in my 4th and 5th grade classrooms, but I really want to go all-out in my first grade classroom.  Something I never got to implement before is the "listen to reading."  I've done some light online digging, and I've found some good websites with free audio books.  Some of them are streaming, others are downloadable.  Some are just audio, while others are illustrated as well.  Some are trade books we all know and love, and other sites have created their own.  Ultimately, I'd like to covert the ones I use to just audio clips, as few show the words on the page, but we'll see.

Here's the list:

Momma doesn't know it yet, but she will be recording some stories for me, too.  (She's retired, and was an elementary teacher for 34+ years, so she's REALLY good at reading stories!)

Hope this list is helpful to you, and I might post some readings by my mom when I get that project rolling.  Check back later!
